Each year our group grows as the music program matures.  We are always on the hunt for helping hands, parents/family who want to be involved, and supporters for our regular bake-sales and fund-raising.  If you would like to help out, please reach out.  Contact one of the booster-board members on the Contacts page or fill out the Contact Us form for more information.

ABOUT US

Welcome to the FSK Instrumental Music Boosters.  We are all very excited about the school year at FSK.  I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about our organization, the support we give, opportunities for instrumental Music parents, and our role in sustaining the Instrumental Music Program at FSK.

Our organization was formed to provide both financial and moral support to the Instrumental Music Program, as well as promoting and maintaining an enthusiastic interest in the program.  We work with the administration and Mr. Duffy, our director, as instrumental music advocates representing the best interest of our program and students.  Our group is considered a separate entity from Francis Scott Key High School.  We are a 501c(3) nonprofit business which means donations are tax deductible.

Our support is available to the entire Instrumental Music Program,  all aspects, including concert band, wind ensemble, orchestra, jazz band, and marching band.  To maintain our Instrumental Music Program, we must meet our yearly budget of approximately $36,000.  CCPS only contributes about 10% to this: the remainder is our responsibility.  To meet this budget, we offer diversified fundraisers throughout the year.  We are always researching fundraisers to try to reach different interest groups.

So let me tell you who our group is and what we do.  The FSK Instrumental Music Boosters consists of volunteer parents of Instrumental Music students.  If you have a child in the Instrumental Music Program at FSK, then you are considered part of our team.  It is entirely up to you how much you choose to participate.  We understand that everyone has different schedules, interests, and comfort zones.  In light of this, we do not require you to sell for our fundraisers or require a minimum amount of volunteer time.  The one thing we do strongly encourage is to come to our monthly meetings, even if you cannot be there every month, please come when you can.  Being present at our meetings fives you the benefit of staying informed of events in our program, as well as other activities coming up at FSK.  We also appreciate any input you may have for the group.  Everyone's opinions and ideas are valued and respected.  Meeting schedules can be found on the Calendar link above.

The boosters help chaperone competitions & events, organize bake sales for concerts & other events, transport & repair equipment, design & build props / sets for marching band show, uniform fittings, repairs & cleaning, host an end-of-the-year awards banquet, sponsor a music scholarship, as well as any supportive functions Mr. Duffy may request of us.  Our most important role is to Cheer on Our Kids!!  Everything we do is profoundly rewarding, knowing that we are affording these kids an awesome Instrumental Music experience in their high school years.

There is a variety of opportunities to help with the boosters.  You may have valuable skills and expertise that you don't realize we need.  Are you a crafter?  Creative? Like to sew? Do you have computer skills? - web design, social media, label printing, graphic design for ads, research for fundraising opportunities?  Are you handy with repairing small equipment, building or designing props?  Do you have business kills - accounting, legal, etc?  Organizational skills?  Do you like to bake?  Even if you don't possess any of these specific skills, we always welcome helping hands.
